- I'm loving this little "safari njema" ritual every time I fly: I post an update, and five minutes later greetings move across the world: "Safari njema!" (Safe travel!) Safari means journey in Swahili (but has been heavily applied to tourism and visits to game parks). And in Swahili you are very gracious with greetings and wishes. Travelling in Africa, anywhere, is a potential risk, so you extend wishes for safety.
It may say that we are apart but we are still with one another. There's another Swahili phrase for that, too.
This humble lodge "Safari Hotel" is located on the road along the Ugandan border to Congo near Arua in West Nile. If you get out car on the right you're in Uganda, in Congo on the left.
